Mormon Transhumanist Association: Faith

Singularity will Infuse the Universe with Spirit

"The matter and energy in our vicinity will become infused with the intelligence, knowledge, creativity, beauty, and emotional intelligence (the ability to love, for example) of our human-machine civilization. . . . So in a sense, we can say that the Singularity will ultimately infuse the universe with spirit."

Ray Kurzweil, Singularity is Near 389

I don’t think there is any “in a sense” about it!

We know, more than we know anything, that the universe has phenomenal, or spiritual if you will qualities.  Our very knowledge us composed of such stuff.  The current problem is, the only thing we can know about the phenomenal qualities in our universe is that which is trapped and isolated in side our spiritually lonely skull and mind.

But we are about to finally discover what and how this spiritual stuff exists in our brain.  Surely any such discovery will be considered to be, by far, the most significant and universe changing scientific achievement to date.  Any such discovery not only finally explain what we (and sentience) really are but it will enable us to finally escape from being phenomenally trapped within our skulls.

For example, now, when we embrace a loved one, all we can experience are half of the phenomenal stuff going on because of this so far ineffable isolation.  But once we discover how all this stuff works in our universe and how it is all joined together in a single world of conscious awarness, we will then finally be able to share all this stuff – and experience all that is being experienced during such an embrace.  And this will just be the start as conscious spiritual minds finally break out of our skulls, merge, grow, and as Kurzweil so phenomenally mistakenly says: “will ultimately infuse the universe with spirit.

At least, that is my opinion.  Would anyone like to make a bet on something different?
