Note to all: the Rosetta@Home screen saver takes a significant amount of cpu time to run.  The amount of actual computation your computer does will be higher if you don't use it.  I don't know if it is set as your screensaver by default when you install BOINC.

Also, if your computer has multiple cores or multiple processors and you want them all to be used you need to set that in your BOINC preferences.

    Re: MTA BOINC Team Created

My hard disk crashed a while ago on one of the boxes I had running this.

So now I’m trying to get it back up and running on this new disk.

But what a pain.  It sure seems like someone could make this sign up process easer.  I bet a lot more people would have this running if it didn’t take many hours and repeated attempts from a technical people to get it up and running.  I would have got this back up and running much sooner if it wasn’t so hard.

So, I’ve got it all installed, but I’m trying to do the “add project” so I can connect up and start contributing to our project.

It asks for a Project URL:

What do I put in here?

    Is it this:

    http://stats.kwsn.net/user.php?proj=all&cpid=8b34fbadf336fe7fd61801fc29c7f8a7

when I add this it gives me:

    The project is temporarily unavailable.

    Please try again later.

Do I just need to wait till “later”?

The creators of Rosetta@home have posted an interesting introduction to the Rosetta project on youtube here.

Also, this page lists some of the diseases that they plan to work on through Rosetta@home.

    Malaria
    Anthrax
    HIV
    Alzheimer's disease
    Cancer
    Prostate Cancer
    other viruses

    Also:
new enzymes, vaccines and more targeted drugs.
