Privacy Policy

The Mormon Transhumanist Association (“MTA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you visit our website, make a donation, purchase merchandise, or interact with our services.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number when you register for events, subscribe to our newsletter, make a donation, or purchase merchandise. We also automatically collect certain technical information when you visit our website, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit, through the use of cookies and similar tracking technologies.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate and improve our website and services, communicate with you about events, publications, and organizational news, process donations and merchandise orders, send transactional notifications (such as donation receipts, order confirmations, and shipping updates), and analyze website usage to better understand and serve our community.

No Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for monetary gain or commercial marketing purposes. Your data is not a product. We share personal information with outside parties only to the minimum extent necessary to deliver the services you have requested, as described in the section below.

Third-Party Service Providers

To deliver our services, we work with a limited set of trusted third-party providers. We share only the minimum information required for each provider to perform their specific function. We do not authorize these providers to use your information for any purpose beyond the service they provide to us. Our current service providers are as follows:

Twilio (SMS and WhatsApp Notifications)

We use Twilio to send transactional SMS and WhatsApp messages, such as event reminders and notification alerts. To deliver these messages, we share your phone number and the message content with Twilio. Twilio processes this data solely for message delivery on our behalf.

Postmark (Email Delivery)

We use Postmark to deliver transactional emails, including donation confirmations, order receipts, account notifications, and event-related correspondence. We share your email address and the relevant message content with Postmark for the sole purpose of delivering these communications to you.

Stripe (Donations and Merchandise Purchases)

We use Stripe to process donations and merchandise purchases. When you complete a payment, Stripe collects and processes your payment card information and billing details directly and securely. We share only the transaction-related information necessary to facilitate and confirm your payment. We do not store your full payment card details on our own servers.

Printful (Merchandise Fulfillment)

We use Printful to print and fulfill merchandise orders. When you place a merchandise order, we share your name, shipping address, and order details with Printful so they can produce and ship your items. This information is used by Printful exclusively for order fulfillment and delivery.

Google (Web Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website. Google Analytics collects anonymized or pseudonymized information about your site usage, such as pages visited, session duration, and traffic sources. This data helps us improve the website experience for our community. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your browsing experience and to collect analytics data. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us recognize your browser and remember your preferences. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. However, some parts of our website may not function properly if you disable cookies.

Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. All payment transactions are processed over encrypted connections (SSL/TLS). However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of the personal information we hold about you. You may also opt out of receiving non-transactional communications from us at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in any email we send or by contacting us directly. Please note that certain transactional messages, such as donation receipts or order confirmations, are necessary to fulfill your requests and cannot be opted out of while those services are active.

Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, service providers, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
